E-wallet with cross-border capability

This invention describes an e-wallet system that lets consumers shop online from retailers in a different country. The system works by providing a local shipping address to the retailer, then arranging for the item to be forwarded from that local address to the consumer's actual foreign address. It calculates and presents the total cost, including international shipping, to the consumer. The core of the invention is a software method performed by an electronic wallet server.

Why it matters: The widespread adoption of standardized e-commerce, payment, and logistics APIs, coupled with mature cloud infrastructure, makes building and integrating such a system significantly more feasible and scalable than in 2012.
