Method and system for defense against incoming rockets and missiles

This invention describes a system to shoot down incoming rockets and missiles. It launches its own missile, which has a warhead that breaks into many pieces. Initially, ground control guides the interceptor, but then the interceptor takes over, using its own sensors to steer directly into the path of the incoming threat. The claims narrow this to a version using both a fixed radar and a fixed optical sensor on the interceptor missile.
