Aircraft defense system against manpads with IR/UV seekers

This invention describes an aircraft defense system that uses two main approaches. One part involves towing a small decoy behind the aircraft that emits intense infrared light to distract heat-seeking missiles. The other part, which is the focus of the initial claims, aims to make the aircraft invisible to missiles that detect UV light by casting shadows. It does this by placing UV light sources on the aircraft and treating its surfaces to reflect UV, effectively "cloaking" it against the UV background of the sky. The UV light can be varied in pattern or timing to further confuse a missile.
