Dynamic product tracking system using RFID

This invention describes a system for tracking individual products or items using small radio tags. Each item gets a tag with a unique product type ID and a specific serial number. Scanners read these tags to record item movements in real-time, and this data is then combined with other business information and stored in a central database. The system uses a computer model of the product's journey to automatically manage its workflow and can send updates to other business systems or respond to user inquiries.

Why it matters: RFID hardware costs have significantly decreased, and cloud computing infrastructure and real-time data processing tools have matured, making large-scale deployment and management of such a system more feasible and cost-effective than in 2006.
