Robot apparatus and method for controlling the operation thereof

This invention describes a robot with a head and legs that can turn its whole body and head towards a sound. If the sound is too far to the side for just its neck, the robot uses its legs to turn its body while also turning its neck, so it can face the sound. After facing the sound, if it recognizes a person, it adjusts its body and neck to look directly at them without a twisted neck.
