Orthodontic treatment monitoring using intermediate device

This invention describes a system to track how long a patient wears their clear orthodontic aligners. A small capacitive sensor attached to the aligner detects when it's being worn. When the aligner is placed in its storage case, the case wirelessly collects this wear-time data and then sends it via Bluetooth to a phone or computer for review.

Why it matters: The core technologies were established when filed. Miniaturizing the sensor for comfort and ensuring its power efficiency within a removable appliance remain key engineering challenges.
