This invention uses augmented reality to recommend products to a user. It identifies a real-world object and a virtual product that the user has placed in their AR view. A machine learning algorithm then predicts a complementary candidate product based on the virtual product, and displays an image of this candidate product alongside the virtual product in the user's AR view. The system can specifically select the AR viewpoint for recommendation after the user has been still for a set time.
