Gasification Method for Reducing Emission of Carbon Dioxide

This invention describes a method to convert carbon-containing materials into useful syngas while reducing carbon dioxide emissions. It works by reacting the material with steam and a catalyst, then taking the resulting syngas and either burning a part of it or separating hydrogen and carbon monoxide from it to create a CO2-rich gas. This CO2-rich gas is then fed back into the initial reaction, and in its most complete form, additional CO2 is separated from the remaining syngas and also recycled.
