Biometric system

This invention describes a biometric system, such as one using fingerprints, that checks the quality of a newly captured biometric measurement. After taking a user's biometric data and creating a digital template from it, the system tests this template against a set of previously acquired biometric templates from other people. If the new template falsely matches any of these existing templates, indicating it might be prone to errors, the system can reject it.
