Area denial

This invention describes an automated defense system designed to protect a specific area. It works by continuously watching the area for intruders using various sensors. Once an intruder is detected, the system automatically fires projectiles from a specialized barrel. This barrel holds multiple projectiles stacked one behind the other, each with its own small explosive charge, allowing them to be fired in sequence.

Why it matters: Filed before advanced AI vision systems and networked sensors were common. The claims cover detecting intruders and initiating an attack; the part that needed dedicated, expensive hardware and limited algorithms in 2000 is now far more capable and accessible with modern computing and sensor technology.
