Interactive 3D cursor

This invention describes a way to interact with three-dimensional images using a specialized three-dimensional cursor. This cursor, which has a visible size, lets you select a specific section of the 3D image by surrounding it, and it displays measurement markings. You can then modify the selected section, such as by making everything outside of it transparent.

Why it matters: Since 2022, the widespread availability of high-performance 3D graphics hardware and advanced 3D input devices has made real-time interactive 3D volume manipulation more practical. This enables more precise and intuitive selection and display of complex 3D data, particularly in medical imaging.
