Display system

This invention describes a head-mounted display, like a VR or AR headset, that saves battery by having two power modes: a low-power sleep mode and a high-power active mode. A special control system decides when to switch to the active mode. It does this by first checking a simple, low-power condition (such as detecting movement or a person nearby) and, if that condition is met, then checking a more complex, higher-power condition before fully waking up the display. This two-step process helps conserve energy by only using more power when truly necessary.

Why it matters: Improvements in ultra-low-power sensor technology and on-device processing efficiency for contextual awareness could make this multi-stage power saving more effective and practical for extended HMD use, a growing need since its 2023 filing.
