Interactive avatars in artificial reality

This invention describes a system for creating and sharing digital characters (avatars) that appear fixed in the real world using augmented reality. The avatar's owner customizes its look and how it acts. When someone else's AR headset is near the avatar's location, or if they choose it on a map, their device gets the avatar's details so they can see and engage with it. The system can also alert a user's phone when their AR device or phone is close to where an avatar is placed.

Why it matters: The core challenge remains the lack of a widely adopted, persistent AR cloud infrastructure for reliably sharing world-locked content across diverse XR devices.
