Unmanned aerial vehicle inspection system

This invention describes a drone system designed to inspect tall buildings or other vertical structures. The drone follows a pre-planned route, moving down in distinct vertical paths, or "columns." As it descends along each path, it captures sensor data at various heights, using a magnetic sensor to keep a specific part of the drone facing the structure's center.

Why it matters: Filed before the widespread adoption of advanced AI for drone autonomy. Modern AI and improved edge computing can now make the precise navigation and real-time sensor data analysis for inspection significantly more robust and efficient.
