Mocking robotic process automation (RPAactivities for workflow testing

This invention describes a way to test automated business processes, called RPA workflows. It works by letting a user pick a section of an existing workflow and then replacing that entire section with a single, simplified stand-in activity for testing. The system then shows both the original section and its simplified replacement side-by-side within a visual container, allowing tests to be run on this modified, 'mock' version of the workflow.

Why it matters: Filed before the widespread application of advanced AI for code and logic generation. Modern LLMs could significantly automate the creation of appropriate substitute activities or even entire mock workflows, reducing the manual effort implied by the claims.
