Artificial intelligence apparatus for performing speech recognition and method thereof

This invention describes an artificial intelligence system that understands spoken commands. When a user speaks, the system converts the speech to text and identifies words that refer back to something previously mentioned, like "it" or "that." It then figures out what those words refer to by looking at the current context, such as what's displayed on screen or what the system has recently processed. Based on this understanding, it determines how to respond and control the device, specifically narrowing the context to selected content or full-screen content.

Why it matters: Filed before large language models became widely capable of advanced natural language understanding and context resolution. The claims cover anaphora resolution and context-based response, which are now significantly enhanced by modern LLM capabilities.
