This invention describes a method for a mobile phone to check itself for damage, such as a cracked screen. An app guides the user to place the phone facing a mirror, then automatically adjusts the phone's screen brightness and camera sensitivity based on ambient light to capture an optimal image of the display reflected in the mirror. This captured image is then used to determine if the device has a fault.
