Device, method, and graphical user interface for manipulating user interfaces based on fingerprint sensor inputs

This invention describes a way for an electronic device to let you control its screen using its fingerprint sensor. While the device is showing a limited interface, perhaps because some functions are restricted, it detects your fingerprint. If it recognizes your specific fingerprint and you move it in one direction, you can navigate within that limited interface; if you move your finger in a different direction, the device can then show you a completely different screen, like a multitasking view of open apps.

Why it matters: In 2013, fingerprint sensors were mainly for unlocking devices. Today, mobile operating systems and hardware are much more capable of interpreting complex gestural inputs on these sensors, making this type of UI control easier to implement and integrate into existing device security and multitasking features.
