Quantum-based data encryption

A system uses quantum physics to generate unique secret keys and share them between two devices. One device encrypts data with its key, and the other decrypts it with the identical key. A unique feature is that the decrypted data automatically becomes inaccessible after a set period.

Why it matters: Since 2020, the perceived threat of quantum computing has accelerated the demand for quantum-safe encryption, and quantum key distribution components have matured. However, widespread deployment of quantum communication channels remains a significant hurdle.
