Method for storing electrical energy in solid matter

This invention describes a system to store electrical energy by converting a metal chloride salt solution into a solid metal through electrolysis. The solid metal, which acts as an energy carrier, can be stored and later reacted with an acid to release hydrogen gas. This hydrogen can then be immediately used as fuel for heat or electricity, while the process regenerates the acid and other chemicals for reuse.

Why it matters: Since 2018, advancements in electrolyser materials and efficiency have improved the feasibility of the initial electrical energy storage step. However, the overall system integration and cost-effective regeneration of solutions and gases remain complex engineering challenges.
