Iterative ontology discovery

This invention describes a computer system that discovers how different nouns are related to each other. It does this by analyzing how nouns are used with verbs in text and by looking at their definitions. The system then uses statistical processing and natural language understanding to identify initial connections, and can refine these relationships based on further input.

Why it matters: Filed before the widespread adoption of large language models, the semantic interpretation and iterative refinement described would be significantly more powerful and easier to implement with today's advanced AI capabilities.
