Enhanced video sharing

This invention describes a system for sharing videos between two people who are communicating, for example, chatting or on a call. When one person offers a video, the other person's device automatically decides where to play it: either on their own device or on a separate display, like a smart TV. This decision is made based on the device's current location. If the device decides to play the video itself, it then requests the video from a server, potentially specifying a preferred video format.

Why it matters: Since 2019, the proliferation of smart home devices and enhanced location-aware casting protocols has made seamless handoff to distinct video output devices more robust. This improves the practicality of automatically determining the best playback location based on a device's environment.
