Sharing duty cycle between devices

This invention describes an Internet-of-Things (IoT) device that manages its data transmissions to the cloud. When the device's allowed transmission time to the cloud is nearing its limit, it automatically switches to sending that data to a local mesh network instead. This allows the IoT device to continue communicating without exceeding its duty cycle for direct cloud transmissions.

Why it matters: Since 2016, the scale and density of IoT deployments have significantly increased, intensifying the need for efficient resource allocation and duty cycle management in M2M communications. The maturity and widespread adoption of mesh networking standards for IoT now offer a more viable and integrated offloading path.
