Heterogeneous implantable devices for drug delivery

This invention describes a small, rod-shaped device designed to be implanted under the skin for long-term drug delivery. It has a core made of a common plastic called EVA, which doesn't contain any medicine. This core is then surrounded by layers that contain specific thyroid hormones, L-triiodothyronine and/or L-thyroxine, which are slowly released into the body over an extended period.
