Single use AED

This invention describes a method for managing automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) designed for a single emergency use. Each AED is provided with a battery capable of delivering only a limited number of shocks and is remotely monitored for its readiness. If the monitoring system detects a problem or if a predetermined service period expires, the AED is automatically flagged for return and replacement, eliminating the need for on-site maintenance.

Why it matters: Since 2013, the widespread adoption and cost reduction of IoT and low-power wireless communication technologies have made remote monitoring and automated diagnostics for distributed devices significantly more feasible and economical. This enables the core maintenance method of this invention to be implemented more effectively.
